In the opening  day, there were already surprises. Former European Champion S. Tot (SER), former World Junior Champion and Hungarian No. 1, V. Foldes, also the Ranking Winner of the 2011, B. Melkonyan (ARM) were eliminated. Polish players, expectedly perform well; 6 of them qualified to the quarterfinals. Ioan Ladany (ROM) and Novo Serafimovsky (MAC) are still in the game, besides Polish  players. The Hungarian open in Fordan Centre in Pecs is the last test before the upcoming European Championships  2012.
