Second day of the Pyramid World Cup in Sudak finally brought some clarity to the tournament classifications, and noticeably "condensed" participation list.

Champion of the world in "Free pyramid" Yaroslav Vinokur was eliminated by Sergey Tsilyk (1-6). Famous young Russian player from Rostov Nikita Lyvada became one more Russian stars, that left the tournament too early. Players from Donbass region (East of Ukraine), Ivan Pavenko and Vladimir Perkun made tournament much less interesting for the viewing audience from Moldova, defeating with the same score 6-1 last two representatives of this country – Vladimir Reis and Sergei Kryzhanovsky.

Very interesting, that Artem Koshevoy and Evgeny Novosad, which are widely known as pool players, not only managed to reach the playoffs, but also to get into the 1/16 finals, where they met each other. There was a tough battle between them, and only the very last frame gave victory for Novosad. In 1/8 finals Evgeny had to play with Arthur Pivchenko. And this was only one of four Ukrainian derbies in the 1/8 finals. The other three: A. Palamar - V. Perkun, J. Tarnovetsky - Vyacheslav Yugay and D. Belozerov-G. Vashchenkov.
In the women's competition, after not very successful first day Russians still tip the scales in their favor in the confrontation with the Ukrainian women. Oksana Privalova managed to inflict the first defeat to Zhanna Shmatchenko, and Darya Mikhailova knocked her out of the tournament. A similar situation befell Valery Vasilyeva and Tatiana Talova - two consecutive defeats after a successful start. At the stage of the last round of the lower chart also have lost Tatiana Tuchak, Victoria Ivanova and Maria Pudovkina.

Two more victories over Ukrainian women were obtained by Russians in the 1/8 finals. Regina Vlasova beat Nastia Kovalchuk (4-1), and Natalia Korneva defeated Oksana Krasko (4-0). But experienced Ekaterina Kazakova from Togliatti lost to 21-year-old Alexandra Gaponenko from Pavlograd (Ukraine).

The central match of 1/8 finals was Ukrainian derby between the vice-world champion Zaryana Pritulyuk and junior European and World champion Anna Kotlyar. The opponents were party to the party before the count 3-3. But in the last frame Anya was more successful.
