This years Estonian Pool Championships were held at the Baribal Poolclub in Tallinn. Estonian Champions were determined in 14.1, 8- and 9-ball in men, women, junior and senior divisions. In order to determine the ultimate champion all matches were played in single elimination format.

Denis Grabe got again two from three

As on the three previous years Denis Grabe got in men division two from three gold medals. Erki Erm was the one to get the better of Grabe to snatch the 8-ball victory.

The results of the Estonian Championships 2012 in men division:

14.1 - 1. Denis Grabe; 2. Mihkel Rehepapp; 3. Erki Erm and Raimo Teesaar.

8 Ball - 1. Erki Erm; 2. Denis Grabe; 3. Mihkel Rehepapp and Raimo Teesaar.

9 Ball - 1. Denis Grabe; 2. Mihkel Rehepapp; 3. Erki Erm and Raimo Teesaar.

"The man division was mainly a show of three players, but this is the face of Estonian pool today. The fact is that these three are a step ahead of the others. The proof for that are this weekends' results and the results that Grabe, Erm and Rehepapp have achieved in 2011 not only in Estonia, but on the international level as well," said Allan Liima, a member of the Board of Estonian Pool Federation, after the successfully organised event.

The women's division was dominated by Anna Grintsuk

As expected Anna Grintsuk was the hot favorite for all the three golds. However probably no one believed she is able to pull that out until she sank the last 9-ball to clinch her three out of three titles of the weekend.

The results of the Estonian Championships 2012 in women division:

14.1 - 1. Anna Grintsuk; 2. Jana Sinilnikova; 3. Heidy Mäitse and Annika Anni

8 Ball - 1. Anna Grintsuk; 2. Liana Matsukans; 3. Galina Tammaru and Jana Sinilnikova

9 Ball - 1. Anna Grintsuk; 2. Jana Sinilnikova; 3. Heidy Mäitse and Galina Tammaru

"Along with this weekends' wins Anna Grintśuk continued her perfect spell. In 2011 she won Olympic-Online Baltic Pool League, Estonian Women League and now three Estonian champion titles. We all are very happy for her success," claimed overjoyed Rafig Adigazalov senior, a member of the Board of Estonian Pool Federation and manager of Anna's club Tallinn Baribal Pool School.

Põhjala, the new kid on the block took two in senior's division

Arriving to his first ever senior's division Estonian Championships Põhjala probably never thought of the success that he accomplishes on the most prestigious weekend of Estonian pool life. He showed fantastic pace and won well deserved two gold and one bronze medals.

The results of the Estonian Championships 2012 in senior division:

14.1 - 1. Rain Põhjala; 2. Andrei Martõnjak; 3. Ants Saun and Einar Saska

9 Ball - 1. Rain Põhjala; 2. Ants Saun; 3. Viktor Korsmik and Einar Saska

Junior division closest as ever

Due to the fact that two last year's best performers Mihkel Rehepapp and Joonas Saska had to participate for the first year in men's division it promised to become a very close encounter... and close it was. No one of the participants got more than one gold.

The results of the Estonian Championships 2012 in junior division:

14.1 - 1. Andres Petrov; 2. Juss Saska; 3. Martin Maasik and Mark Mägi

8 Ball - 1. Martin Maasik; 2. Juss Saska; 3. Andres Petrov and Mark Mägi

On the closing ceremony letters of gratitude were presented

Estonian Pool Federation and Estonian Olympic Committee presented their letters of gratitude to the ones that had helped the development of Estonian pool in 2011. The letter of gratitude and the book with Estonian sports stars 2011 including the signature of Mr. Mart Siiman, President of Estonian Olympic Committee, was presented to Tartu "Baribal" Billiard School as the most active club in 2011, Mr. Mikk Pettai for exemplary refereeing, Denis Grabe and Mihkel Rehepapp for their great success on the international tournaments and last but not least Mr. Rainer Laar as the best coach.

"It is great to see that the overall level of the competition is more stable. Well, maybe not in the women division. I was happy to see how many emotions there was in the past weekend for the athletes and spectators. Hopefully there are even more spectators next year that are gathered here to cheer for their relatives and friends. It is a known fact that sometimes in sports the moral support may be the key for success. 2011 was fantastic year for us, we got very good results not only in Europe, but in the world as well. The Olympic-Online Baltic Pool League was successful as well and not only in the number of participants, but Denis Grabe and Anna Grintśuk took the titles in men's and women's division. The preparations for the 2012 series are already in the final stage and new sponsors have joined us and the event promises to be even more attractive than it was in 2011. On the behalf of the Estonian Pool Federation and European Billiard Council I would like to thank all the parents, sponsors, clubs, fans and all others that helped us, because without you we would not had the success we had in 2011. A special thanks goes to Baribal Billiard Club that kindly let us use their pool hall for this weekend. I am sure that the 2012 will be even more successful for us, so we are optimistic," summed up the last year and the event Juri Talu, the head of the Board of Estonian Pool Federation and the member of the Board of European Billiard Council.
