2012 European Billiard Council Report

European Billiard Council is now celebrating the first anniversary of its establishment. All the main organizational and sports goals were achieved in such a short period of time.

WPA World 9-Ball Championships for Juniors, Girls and Wheelchair athlets in Willingen (Germany) has come to an end. In the tournament, which was placed in a spacious, nice venue of Sauerland Stern Hotel, participated players from Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America.

EPBF has organized the first tournament for players in age between 19-23. The idea invented by billiard federations from Eastern Europe came alive.

Polish Championships in Debica are the last part of the battle for Chevrolet Spark founded by Konsalnet S.A., Cleaner, WiK, Brzesc and POL MOT Auto Kielce.

The winner of the 2012 ranking will receive the car. Mateusz Sniegocki, who has 29 points more than the vice-leader - Tomasz Kaplan and 42 points more than Piotr Kudlik and Radoslaw Babica, is a leader after the series of Polish Grand Prix and WiK POL TOUR tournaments. During the competition in Debica they may get points playing 4 different variants of pool.

The car is waiting for its owner in POL MOT Auto showroom in Kielce. It is worth to mention that MakMarketing, thanks to the support of of the sponsors, has already awarded 3 cars: Opel Corsa, Chevrolet Spark and Fiat Punto.

THE PROJECT EAC - 2011 - 0455 "EUROPEAN ABC (ACADEMY FOR BILLIARD CHAMPIONS) ON THE WAY TO SPORT EXCELLENCE" financed by European Union is finished.

Marcin Krzeminski - the President of EBC met the presidents of world's snooker. The meeting took place in Sofia during IBSF World Championships. International Billiard & Snooker Federation was choosing its board in Bulgaria.

Mateusz Robinski from Hades Poznan Club became the best amateur billiard player. 224 people participated in the final tournament which took place in Lodz.

Championships for amateurs have been organized in Poland since 2002. 5 times during a year clubs run the local qualifications to loom the best players who will start in a final. In this year's edition organized by Polish Billiard Association around 1000 people were calssified. Billiard Sport Amateur Challenge is the biggest in the world event which takes place every year.

The championships of Russia took place, as usually, at the end of the year. Players competed in 4 game variants, separately men and women.

The next international billiard tournament took place in Black Pool Club in Ostrava. 80 players took part in this event. Mateusz Sniegocki (PL) defeated Marc Bijsterbosh (NL) in the final match and became the winner. The third place got Marek Derek (PL) and Alex Lely (NL). The tournament in Czech Republic was played due to the initiative and activity of T. Onderek. Congratulations !!!

The first, after a break, season of women’s competition has ended. As a result of the initiative of Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Estonia and Slovakia, EPBF resumed the cycle of the tournaments for women.

129 ladies took part in the cycle. Natalia Sireoshtan from Russia became the winner (3.197 pts). Second place went to Caroline Roos from Sweden (3.161 pts) and the third place to Sandra Baumgartner from Austria (2.849 pts). 5 women from Eastern Europe, beside the winner, got to the best 16: Anna Mizhirina (Russia) – 5th place (2.710 pts), Katarzyna Wesolowska (Poland) – 9th place (2.253 pts), Ana Gradisnik (Slovenia) – 11^th place (2.183 pts) and Oliwia Czuprynska (Poland) – 12^th place (2.120 pts). Ladies were collecting their points during 8 tournaments including 3 European Championships.

Women competition was canceled few years ago due to the economical issues. We didn’t have to wait long for the results. None of ladies from Europe was able to equally compete in prstigious, international tournaments beside Jasmin Ouschan and those who immigrated to USA. It is time now to fix the damages caused by the wrong decision.
